At Mile Oak we firmly believe the school grounds are far more than just something you walk through to get into the building. We are a silver eco school and believe firmly that the outdoors is a fertile place for children to learn.
An after school gardening and eco club which introduces children to growing food crops, tending the garden and exploring the school grounds. Children also experience looking after the school orchard and eating what they find there.
Our Level 3 qualified Forest School leader takes regular sessions with small groups of children in our designated Forest school camp area- which although still within the grounds feels like a wild and remote place. Here children learn about fire lighting, woodland skills and cook on an open fire. They build camps, craft strange tree creatures, listen to tall tales and generally get to grips with the great outdoors.
