We are very excited to have a ParentGym programme here at the school (not a jumping up and down one!!). This FREE programme provides a range of tools and tips for parents to help with bedtime, behaviour, communication and support with you child's learning - to name but a few.

ParentGym will run for 6 Fridays from the 13th March (excluding the Easter holidays) at 9.15am. There will be a creche available, so even if you have little ones you can take part.

Don't miss out! Register now for the taster session on Friday 6th March, by calling Andrea Diskin at the school on 01273 294880.

Safer Internet Day 2015

This week we have been celebrating Safer Internet Day 2015 with the slogan ‘Let’s create a better internet together’. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. Ultimately, a better internet is up to us!

The Big Pedal 2015

The Big Pedal 2014

From the 2-20th March, Mile Oak will be taking part in the Big Pedal 2015, the UK's biggest cycle and scoot to school event. This is an ideal opportunity to have fun on the way to school, to get some exercise, and do your bit for the environment!

We will also be running a competition to win a bike worth £150!

And... we'll also be celebrating "Love your Bike" day on the 13th February: Decorate your bike in valentine theme to be in with a chance to win prizes and free smoothies with bike it Ben!

Meet Mile Oak's new Book Buses!

We are thrilled to be able to show you our 'new' book buses, which were unveiled to the school on Friday 9 January 2015.

The buses were originally built eight years ago by Peter Coleman, a friend of the school, and have recently been renovated by engineers at Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company.

The renovation of the buses is part of the work Brighton & Hove Buses is carrying out to develop relationships with local schools. Bus driver and Mile Oak Primary School parent Sam Heselden has led the initiative along with the school Deputy Head Martin Cooper.

You can see a video about the unveiling and the buses here.

Ofsted inspection outcome

The school was inspected at the end of September, and this week we are able to share with you the outcome of the inspection, which was that the school was judged to be "good" in all areas. As a school, we are pleased with this outcome, and look forward to continuing our journey towards "outstanding" which we have already started.

A link to the full Ofsted report can be found in the Ofsted and Performance tables page, in our About the School section.
