Computing

At Mile Oak, computing forms a vital part of the curriculum, ensuring that every pupil develops the knowledge, skills and confidence required to thrive in an increasingly digital society. Through the use of Purple Mash, pupils are introduced to a broad and progressive curriculum that covers coding, data handling, digital creativity and problem solving. Lessons are carefully structured to inspire curiosity and innovation while also encouraging perseverance, logical thinking and collaboration. By engaging with a wide range of digital tools and resources, pupils learn not only how technology works but also how it can be applied in real-world contexts to enhance learning, communication and creativity.
We place a strong emphasis on e-safety, recognising its importance in preparing pupils to use technology responsibly and with confidence. From the earliest years, children are taught how to protect their personal information, make safe and respectful choices online and identify and respond appropriately to potential risks. E-safety is embedded throughout the computing curriculum and reinforced through wider school initiatives such as Safer Internet Day, ensuring pupils develop a secure understanding of how to navigate the digital world safely. By the time they leave our school, pupils are confident and responsible users of technology, equipped with the digital literacy skills they need for the future.
