Food committee
At Mile Oak, the Food Committee plays an important role in promoting healthy eating and positive food choices across our school. Made up of one representative from each class from Year 1 to Year 6, pupils hold this position for a year, giving them the opportunity to contribute their ideas and make a real impact.
Members of the Food Committee encourage and model healthy eating habits, as well as environmentally responsible behaviours. They help monitor food waste at lunchtime and work to influence others to make healthier choices.
The committee meets every half term to share ideas and plan new initiatives that support healthy eating across the school. They also discuss menu options and provide feedback to the school kitchen team, helping to shape and improve the meals on offer. Food Committee members have taken part in tasting sessions and have directly contributed to menu changes, ensuring pupils’ voices are heard.
